ABHOR SHUN ABORTION

This is a pretty new website.  The reason that we launched it is that we, each of us, think that it's more than a coincidence that "Abortion" sounds like "Abhor Shun", and that it's important to get the word out about it.  It really is like the word is telling you what to do with regard to abortion- that is, abhor it and shun it.  Is this the hidden meaning of abortion?

The reaction so far has been mixed.  We brought some T-shirts to a religious pro-life conference recently and were surprised not to get more of a reaction.  There were a few who at least recognized what we were trying to point out in some way- that is, it was a "coincidence", or "interesting", or "telling", but no one said it was a miracle or anything.

Actually, I don't think God "allows" in-your-face miracles- I mean, even in Jesus's time there were those who were impressed, and those who could care less or didn't notice.  I think you have to meet a spiritual experience half way, if you know what I mean.  Miracles, or, to put it in a less pretentious way, spiritual experiences, are in the eye of the beholder and cannot be "spectacles to induce belief" (in the words of A Course in Miracles).

We have actually been torn trying to balance focusing on AbhorShun.com as a spiritual assignment and as a commercial venture.  When we look at it as an assignment, then we can always rationalize the apparent small response so far by saying to ourselves that our job is just to get the word out there and who knows how that will spread.  Maybe we got the notice of some key person who will then catalyze the association of abortion with the words abhor and shun in the public consciousness.  In a practical sense, our funds are limited and unless there's some success in a commercial way, our efforts will be correspondingly limited.   (Anyone who wants to chime in about this should feel free to do so:  Jim@AbhorShun.com)

In any event, since we haven't been told in someway that our spiritual task is completed, we should obviously go forward.  Getting back to the conference, we didn't really know what the mindset of the people there was, other than being pro-life.  I have to relate the story of the first person who came up to our booth when I was manning it the first day of the conference.  She was from the Philippines and didn't speak English very well.  She was unclear what "Abhor" and "Shun" mean.  Clearly, the message is lost without knowing what the words mean- quite apart from any ideas about "spiritual readiness" or "spiritual receptivity".
